General description

Bcl-2-associated transcription factor 1 (Btf) is a ubiquitously expressed death-promoting transcriptional repressor. It has been shown to interact with anti-apoptotic proteins related to Bcl-2, DNA, adenovirus E1B 19K, and EMD. Btf has also been shown to be involved in E1A transformation of p53 or E1B 19K, an interaction that implicates Btf as being involved in transcriptional regulation and in promoting apoptosis. Expression of Btf is absent in some cancers, which may suggest a potential role for the protein in tumor suppression.

Specificity

Other homologies: Rat (81% sequence homology).

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human Bcl-2-associated transcription factor 1.
