General description

15:0 cholesteryl-d7 ester (cholesteryl-d7 pentadecanoate) is a deuterated form of cholesteryl pentadecanoate ester. Cholesterol is found in free and ester form in circulation. It associates with lipoproteins including very-low, low and high-density lipoproteins (VLDL, LDL and HDL). The synthesis of cholesteryl esters is mediated by acylCoA-cholesteryl-acyl transferase (ACAT) majorly in the endoplasmic reticulum of liver and intestinal cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

A ratio of cholesteryl ester to cholesterol is lower in cardiovascular disorder. The esterified cholesterol serves as the storage version of cholesterol and its association with lipoproteins further adds a structural feature to them.
