Beschreibung

Application

Phosphomycin, auch als Fosfomycin bekannt, ist ein Antibiotikum, das von Streptomyces fradiae erzeugt wird. Es wird zur Behandlung von unkomplizierten Harnwegsinfektionen eingesetzt. Es wird für Empfindlichkeitsprüfungen von Klebsiella pneumoniae[1] und zur Untersuchung von In-vitro-Empfindlichkeitsprüfverfahren für Fosfomycin trometamol[2] eingesetzt.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Antibiotikum, das in der Niere und Blase konzentriert ist; verringert die Nephrotoxizität und Ototoxizität von platinhaltigen Antitumormitteln. Fosfomycin ist ein Phosphoenolpyruvatanalogon, das UDP-GlcNAc-Enolpyruvyltransferase (MurA), ein Enzym, das an der Biosynthese der Bakterienzellwand beteiligt ist, irreversibel hemmt. Folglich wird die Produktion von N-Acetylmuraminsäure, einem essenziellen Bestandteil der Peptidoglykanzellwand, gehemmt.
