Description générale

FTO (Fat mass-and obesity-associated gene) is the responsible gene for mouse ‘fused toes′ mutation. An association between FTO genotype and type 2 diabetes has been confirmed. The presence of the FTO rs9939609 A-allele was found to be positively correlated with other symptoms of the metabolic syndrome, including higher fasting insulin, glucose, triglycerides, and lower HDL-cholesterol.
The fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene is mapped to human chromosome 16q12.2. The encoded protein is a nuclear protein and belongs to the AlkB-related non-haem iron- and 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase family.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

FTO (Fat mass-and obesity-associated gene) is the responsible gene for mouse ‘fused toes′ mutation. An association between FTO genotype and type 2 diabetes has been confirmed. The presence of the FTO rs9939609 A-allele was found to be positively correlated with other symptoms of the metabolic syndrome, including higher fasting insulin, glucose, triglycerides, and lower high-density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol. FTO stimulates adipogenesis, tumorigenesis, and drug resistance of cancer cells. It does so by reducing the levels of messenger RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) of certain genes post-transcription. The FTO single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are associated with elevated body mass and obesity in humans.

Common variation in the FTO gene is associated with BMI and type 2 diabetes. Increased BMI is associated with diabetes risk factors, including raised insulin, glucose, and triglycerides. We aimed to test whether FTO genotype is associated with variation in

Fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have been linked to increased body mass and obesity in humans by genome-wide association studies (GWAS) since 2007. Although some recent studies suggest that the obesity-related SNPs in FTO influence obesity

FTO is a gene located in chromosome region 16q12.2. Recently two studies have found associations of several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in FTO with body mass index (BMI) and obesity, particularly rs1421085, rs17817449, and rs9939609. We examined these three SNPs

The biological roles of RNA modifications are still largely not understood. Thus, developing a method for detecting RNA modifications is important for further clarification. We developed a method for detecting RNA modifications called immuno-northern blotting (INB) analysis and herein introduce
