Description générale

KIF25 (kinesin family member 25) belongs to kinesin-14 family. It is a tetrameric minus-end directed microtubule motor. It has ~500 amino acids. It is located on chromosome 6q27.

Application

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

KIF25 (kinesin family member 25) is essential to block the separation of premature centrosome during interphase to establish proper spindle orientation. Depletion of KIF25 inhibits the growth and results in non-apoptotic cell death in cancer cells. Reduction of KIF25 leads to the formation of actin stress fibers.
