Description générale

H6 family homeobox 2 (HMX2) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 10q26.13. The encoded protein belongs to the Hmx homeobox gene family, which is a part of the larger natural killer like (NKL) clustered family of homeobox genes.

Application

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

H6 family homeobox 2 (HMX2) plays a vital role in human inner ear vestibular development. It is also implicated in sensorineural hearing. Loss of function of HMX2 gene leads to vestibular dysfunction, inner ear malformations and congenital sensorineural hearing loss.
