Informations sur le gène

Description générale

mRNA export factor (UniProt: P78406; also known as Rae1 protein homolog, mRNA-associated protein mrnp 41) is encoded by the RAE1 (also known as MRNP41) gene (Gene ID: 8480) in human. mRNA export factor (UniProt: P78406; also known as RAE1 protein homolog, mRNA-associated protein mrnp 41) is encoded by the RAE1 (also known as MRNP41) gene (Gene ID: 8480) in human. Rae1 is a member of the superfamily of WD-repeat proteins that plays a role in mitotic bipolar spindle formation. It contains seven WD repeats. Rae1 is also reported to bind to a GLEBS-like NUP98 motif at the nuclear pore complex through multiple domains, including WD-repeats. Also, the COOH-Terminal non- WD-repeat extension of Rae1 Is shown to be essential for NUP98 binding. Rae1 plays a role in nucleocytoplasmic transport and in directly or indirectly attaching cytoplasmic mRNPs to the cytoskeleton. It is recruited from interphase nuclei to spindle microtubules during mitosis. RAE1 also interacts with NUMA1 via N-terminal end of the coiled-coil domain and this interaction promotes spindle formation in mitosis. (Ref.: Pritchard, CEJ et al. (1999). J. cell Biol. 145(2); 237-254).
