Gene Information

human ... NOTCH1(4851)

General description

Monoclonal Anti-Notch 1 (rat IgG2b isotype) is derived from the hybridoma ICN 5B5 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from rat immunized with a recombinant fusion protein corresponding to a fragment of human Notch 1 fusion protein. Notch receptor 1 (Notch1) gene is located on human chromosome 9q34.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Notch 1 antibody produced in rat has been used in immunoblotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

In chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, notch receptor 1 (Notch1) helps to modulate endothelial apoptosis via the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway. Overexpression of Notch1 helps to guard endothelial cell from apoptosis. Knockdown of Notch1 results in the enhancement of apoptotic cells. Notch1 serves as a tumor suppressor gene in mammalian epidermis and is a determinant of keratinocyte differentiation. Notch signaling is believed to participate in several human neoplasms including T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
