Biochem/physiol Actions

c-Jun is a protein encoded by the JUN gene in humans. c-Jun in combination with c-Fos results in the formation of the AP-1 early response transcription factor. It is crucially involved in propagation of macrophage-driven inflammatory networks. AP1 may guide for the treatment decisions for endometriosis management and may provide a mechanistic endpoint for assessing efficacy of new agents aimed at curtailing inflammatory mechanisms that drive disease progression. It may possibly be utilized for the treatment of HPV-induced cervical cancers.

Visible light has been previously demonstrated to induce retina damage and retinal ganglion cell (RGC) death through the mitochondrial pathway. The Fra-2 gene was detected as a transcriptional regulator, but whether it is involved in light-induced retina damage remains unclear.
