β-2 Adrenergic Receptor is a member of the seven-transmembrane-domain receptor family. The ADRB2 gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 5q32. β-2 Adrenergic Receptor is a seven-transmembrane protein that consists of α helices. The N-terminal is extracellular whereas the C-terminal is intracellular.

Biochem/physiol Actions
The β-2 adrenergic receptor (β2 adrenoreceptor), also known as ADRB2, is present within a cell membrane. It reacts with adrenaline (epinephrine) as a hormone or neurotransmitter affecting muscles or organs. It may be a risk factor for chronic pain and its polymorphisms may influence labor pain. It contains a common non-synonymous single nucleotide polymorphism. Epinephrine activates ADRB2 impairing keratinocyte migration. β2-adrenoceptor pathway is essential for cardiovascular regulation.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.

While the β2-adrenoceptor pathway is essential for cardiovascular regulation, the impact of ADRB2 gene variations on circulatory responses is unclear, possibly due to neural compensatory mechanisms. We tested the hypotheses that (i) sympathetic block by thoracic epidural anaesthesia (TEA) unmasks

It is now clear that the beta2-adrenergic receptor continuously oscillates between various conformations in the basal state, and that agonists act to stabilize one or more conformations. It is conceivable that synthetic agonists might be engineered to preferentially confine the
Stimulation of beta2-adrenergic receptors on the cell surface by adrenaline or noradrenaline leads to alterations in the metabolism, excitability, differentiation and growth of many cell types. These effects have traditionally been thought to be mediated exclusively by receptor activation of
High altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE) occurs mainly under conditions such as high altitude, rapid ascent, or hypoxia. Previous studies suggest that ADRB2, GNB3, TH, and GSTP1 polymorphisms are associated with various lung diseases. We evaluated whether those polymorphisms are associated
