General description

Anti-DSD-1 reacts with a glycosaminoglycan epitope selectively expressed on radial gliacytes of which a subpopulation shows stem cell properties. Cells isolated with this antibody from embryonic mouse tissue had multipotent characteristics and could turn into neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. The epitope is highly conserved and has been found in several vertebrates.

Immunogen

Purified tissue fraction corresponding to mouse DSD-1.

Application

Anti-DSD-1 Antibody, clone 473HD is an antibody against DSD-1, clone 473HD for use in Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected DSD-1 in mouse hippocampus, mouse cerebellum, and mouse embryo tissue.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in mouse brain tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected DSD-1 in 10 µg of mouse brain tissue lysate.

Target description

~400 kDa observed

In leptin-deficient ob/ob mice, obesity and diabetes are associated with abnormal development of neurocircuits in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (ARC)1, a critical brain area for energy and glucose homeostasis2,3. As this developmental defect can be remedied by systemic leptin administration
