Gene Information

Saccharomyces cerevisiae ... Gal4(855828)

General description

GAL4 is a transcriptional activator which controls the expression of genes involved in the catabolism of galactose. In addition to a DNA-binding domain, Gal4 contains two acidic regions: activating region I (aa148-238) and activating region II (aa768-881), which can both activate transcription when independently joined to the DNA-binding domain. The activation domains of Gal4 have been shown to interact with Gal80, TBP, SUG1, and ADA2, among other general transcription factors.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes the C-terminus of GAL4 (activation domain).

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to the C-terminus of yeast GAL4 (activation domain).

Application

Research Category
Epigenetics & Nuclear Function
Research Sub Category
Cell Cycle, DNA Replication & Repair
Use Anti-GAL4 (activation domain) Antibody (Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody) validated in WB to detect GAL4 (activation domain) also known as Regulatory protein GAL4.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in Gal4 positive and Gal4 negative yeast cell lysate.

Western Blot Analysis: A 1:160,000 dilution of this antibody detected Gal4 in 5 mg of Gal4 positive (+ recombinant Gal4) yeast cell lysate. This antibody also detected small mounts of endogenous Gal4 in Gal4 negative (- recombinant Gal4) yeast cell lysate.

Meiotic recombination starts with the formation of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) at specific genomic locations that correspond to PRDM9-binding sites. The molecular steps occurring from PRDM9 binding to DSB formation are unknown. Using proteomic approaches to find PRDM9 partners, we
