General description

A constituent and psychoactive ingredient of the mushroom Amanita muscariathat acts as a potent agonist of GABAA receptors (EC50 = 28 µM and 33 µM in neonatal and adult rats, respectively), with preferential efficacy and selectivity to high-affinity receptor subtypes. Shown to be permeate the blood-brain barrier. Impairs associate and memory functions.
