General description

A zwitterionic N-substituted aminosulfonic acid buffer(Absorbance: <0.10 at 260 nm, 1.0 mM, H2O). Active in the pH range of 6.0 to 8.5. Has a pKa of 7.6 at 20°C.
A zwitterionic N-substituted aminosulfonic acid buffer. Useful in the pH 6.8-8.2 range. Has a pKa of 7.55 at 25°C.
Absorbance (1.0 mM, H2O, 260 nm):<0.10.

Application

  • 3,6-O-[N-(2-Aminoethyl)-acetamide-yl]-chitosan exerts antibacterial activity by a membrane damage mechanism.: This study explores the antibacterial mechanisms of a chitosan derivative, which could be related to the buffering capabilities of HEPES in maintaining the stability and exposure of functional groups necessary for antibacterial activity (Yan et al., 2016).
