General description

Native elastase from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A metallopeptidase that hydrolyzes insoluble elastin. Shares a significant sequence homology with thermolysin. Pseudomonas aeruginosa elastase has been implicated in the reinforcement of the inflammation process in cases of infection with the bacterium.

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will hydrolyze 1 µg insoluble elastin per h at 37°C.

Reconstitution

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C) for long-term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage. Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 week at 4°C or for up to 2 months at -20°C.
