General description

Casamino acids are all of the naturally occurring amino acids and particularly rich in essential amino acids. Casamino acids have undergone a nearly complete acid hydrolysis of the casein proteins until all of the nitrogen is converted to free amino acids.

Specifications:
Amino nitrogen/Total nitrogen: ≥55%

Ash: ≤40%
Coliforms: ≤10/gram
Loss on drying: ≤6.0%
pH (2%, water) at 25°C: 5.5-7.0
Salmonella: None detected
Solubility (2%, water): Passes test
Standard plate count: ≤10000CFU/g
Total nitrogen (N): ≥8.0%

Intended for laboratory and manufacturing use only. Not for drug, food, or household use.

Application

  • Global Response of Phaeobacter inhibens DSM 17395 to Deletion of Its 262-kb Chromid Encoding Antibiotic Synthesis: Casamino acids were used to analyze the global response of Phaeobacter inhibens to chromid deletion, highlighting their utility in microbial physiology studies (Rabus et al., 2020) (Rabus, 2020).

  • Evaluating Haloarchaeal Culture Media for Ultrahigh-Molecular-Weight Polyhydroxyalkanoate Biosynthesis by Haloferax Mediterranei: This study showcases how Casamino acids optimize the culture media for Haloferax Mediterranei, enhancing polyhydroxyalkanoate production (Morita et al., 2021) (Morita, 2021).

  • Phenotypic Response of Wolbachia pipientis in a Cell-Free Medium: Research demonstrated Casamino acids′ critical role in supporting the growth of Wolbachia pipientis in cell-free mediums, aiding in studies of intracellular bacteria (Brelsfoard et al., 2020) (Brelsfoard, 2020).

  • Production and Excretion of Astaxanthin by Engineered Yarrowia lipolytica Using Plant Oil: Casamino acids were key in a novel method using Yarrowia lipolytica for astaxanthin production, highlighting their importance in biotechnological applications (Su et al., 2020) (Su, 2020).

  • A Ubiquitous Amino Acid Source for Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cell-Free Transcription-Translation Systems: Highlighting Casamino acids as a versatile source for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell-free systems, this study underscores their broad applicability in synthetic biology (Moore et al., 2022) (Moore, 2022).
