Description

General description

Tryptic Soy Agar with LTHTh (Tween^® 80, Lecithin, Histidine and Sodium Thiosulfate) is a complex nutrient rich inhibitor free microbial media designed in compliance with European (EP), Japanese (JP) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
The medium is supplemented with peptones from casein and soymeal to provide an enhanced carbon source, which promotes the growth of the microbes present in the test sample. The agar in the medium is used as a gelling agent.
Lecithin and Polysorbate 80, are effective against quaternary ammonium compounds, amphoteric surfactants, benzamidines, chlorhexidines and dequadin. Polysorbate 80 inactivates benzyl alcohol, carbanilides, dichlorbenzyl alcohols, benzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and its esters, phenols, phenylethyl alcohols and PHB esters. Histidine and Sodium Thiosulfate is effective against formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasing agents.

Application

Tryptic Soy Agar with LTHTh (Tween^® 80, Lecithin, Histidine and Sodium Thiosulfate) is used for the isolation and cultivation of fastidious bacteria, yeasts, and molds.
TSB is suitable for sterility testing of substances, preparations, and products from pharmaceutical and food industry.
