General description

Ethyl 2-methylindole-3-carboxylate is a 2-substituted 1H-indole-3-carboxylate derivative. It can be prepared by reacting 2-iodoaniline with ethyl acetoacetate sodium salt in the presence of copper iodide.

Application

Reactant for preparation of:
  • 2-methyl-3-[5-substituted phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl]-1H-indoles as antimicrobial agents
  • Aminoheterocycle via N-amination of heterocyclic compounds with O-benzoylhydroxylamines
