General description

Ammonium trifluoromethanesulfonate is a white crystalline solid that is highly soluble in water. It is thermally stable and widely used in the field of catalysis, batteries, and organic synthesis.

Application

Ammonium trifluoromethanesulfonate can be used:
  • As an electrolyte additive in aqueous metal ion batteries. It is used to enhance the ionic conductivity of electrolyte and widens the electrochemical stability window of the battery.
  • As a precursor to prepare solid polymer electrolytes and gel polymer electrolytes via solution casting by method.
  • As a co-catalyst to prepare Poly(p-phenylenediamine) and their derivatives. These conductive polymers are used in sensors and organic photovoltaic cells.
  • A dopant in the preparation of flexible poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene)/polyethyl methacrylate ammonium triflate (PVDf-HFP/PEMA-NH4CF3SO3)polymer electrolyte films.
  • A cathode additive in proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells to increase the local oxygen concentration near the Pt catalyst, which enhances single-cell performance.
