A mouse hepatoma isolated from the BW7756 transplantable hepatoma carried in C57 leaden/J mice (see reference: Differentiation). A mixture of BW1-J and Fao cells were treated with inactive Sendai Virus to produce hybrids at 1 hybrid colony/50 BW1-J cells.

Culture Medium

Coon′s modified Ham′s F12 (or Kaign′s modified Ham′s F12 + 45mg/L ascorbic acid + 18mg/L Inositol) + 2mM Glutamine + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS)

Subculture Routine

Split semi-confluent cultures (70%) 1:50 i.e. seeding at 2x1000 - 5x1000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Media change three times a week.
