Application

Palladium on activated charcoal has been used for the reduction of trimesic acid to form a mixture of cis,cis and cis, trans isomers of 1,3,5-cyclohexanetricarboxylic acid. It can also be used for the conversion of benzylic and allylic alcohols into the corresponding carbonyl compounds in the presence of olefins as hydrogen acceptors.
