General description

Zincon is a formazan dye, that serves as a metal indicator and is applicable in chelometric titration. It is used in spectrometric analysis. The metal-zincon complex formed shows a prominent absorption band in the visible region. Zincon is also used in solid support electrophoresis for staining zinc proteins.

Application

Zincon sodium salt has been used to locate zinc in plant tissues by light microscopy.
