General description

Thrombin Receptor Activator Peptide 6 (TRAP-6) protects astrocytes from cell death, which is associated with hypoglycemia. TRAP-6 induced aggregation and impaired adhesion to collagen under flow conditions.

Application

Thrombin Receptor Activator Peptide 6 has been used to activate platelets in vitro. It has also been used to downregulate hippo signaling and increase nuclear yes-associated protein (YAP).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Hexapeptide fragment of the thrombin receptor (residues 42-47). Shown to activate the thrombin receptor and cause platelet aggregation (EC50 = 0.8 μM).

Other Notes

Lyophilized from 0.1% TFA in H2O

Multiple pathways have been proposed to generate bradykinin (BK)-related peptides from blood. We applied various forms of activation to fresh blood obtained from 10 healthy subjects or 10 patients with hereditary angioedema (HAE-1 or -2 only) to investigate kinin formation.

Platelets are important for effective hemostasis and considered to be involved in pathophysiological processes, e.g. in cardiovascular diseases. Platelets provided for research or for therapeutic use are frequently separated from citrated whole blood (WB) stored for different periods of time.
