General description

A cell-permeable semicarbazone compound that inhibits the GTPase activity of dynamin1/2 (IC50 ~15 µM) and Drp1, while exhibiting no significant effect against two other small GTPases, MxA and Cdc42. Dynasore has been used to elucidate the roles of dynamin in endocytosis mediated by both clathrin-coated and synaptic vesicles. The inhibitition is noncompetitive with respect to GTP and the inhibitor target site presumably resides in the GTPase domain. Shown to inhibit removal of both wt and ΔF508-CFTR from the plasma membrane.
