General description

1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[poly(ethylene glycol)2000-N′-carboxyfluorescein] (18:0 PEG2000 PE CF) lipid comprises hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) polymer in its head groups. DSPE-PEG(2000) micelles exist as spheroid in aqueous solution.

Application

18:0 PEG2000 PE CF may be used:
  • in in vitro release assays from nanoemulsion (NE)
  • for the labeling PEGylated LPD (liposome-polycation-DNA) for size exclusion chromatography studies
  • as a fluorescent probe to monitor shape transformation in giant vesicles

Biochem/physiol Actions

1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[poly(ethylene glycol)2000-N′-carboxyfluorescein] (18:0 PEG2000 PE CF) micelles aid in nanoparticles based drug delivery. It has potential to solubilize hydrophobic drugs and aid in the controlled release of drugs. 18:0 PEG2000 PE CF also called the DSPE−PEG2000, prevents the uptake of drugs by mononuclear phagocyte system and is a potential drug carrier for cancer therapy.
