General description
Normal carrier sera, produced from pooled lots of sera from healthy, non-immunized goats. Suitable for use in radioimmunoassay.
Application
Normal Goat Serum, Lyophilized Solid has been used as a blocking agent in:
- immunohistochemistry
- immunocytochemistry
- immunofluorescence
Biochem/physiol Actions
Normal goat serum can be used as an alternative to commonly used sera such as fetal bovine serum (FBS) and newborn calf serum (NBCS) for the primary culture of cells from various animals. In addition, goat serum also has the potential to use for routine culture of fish cells.

Toxicity: Standard Handling (A)
Physical form
Lipid extracted, dialyzed against 250 mM NaCl, 10 mM sodium phosphate, 0.05% sodium azide, pH 7.6, and lyophilized.
Reconstitution
Following reconstitution, refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage or aliquot and freeze (-20°C) for long-term storage. Undiluted stock solutions are stable for several weeks at 4°C or for up to 1 year at -20°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Do not stored diluted stock solutions for more than 1 day at 4°C.
Reconstitute in 10 ml of H₂O. If the solution is not clear after 1-2 h standing at room temperature, centrifuge and transfer the supernatant to clean tubes.
