Biochem/physiol Actions

Sgl1 inhibitor Hit 1 is a cell penetrant, potent and low toxic inhibitor of Cryptococcus neoformans sterylglucosidase 1 (Sgl1) that significantly increases in the intracellular concentration of ergosterol 3β-D-glucoside (erg-glc). Sgl1 inhibitor Hit 1 potently inhibits growth of wild-type C. neoformans. Also, it inhibits brain dissemination of C. neoformans in a mouse model of infection.
