Meis homeobox 1 (MEIS1) is a transcription factor. It is expressed in hematopoietic stem cells, progenitor cells and mature megakaryocytes. The protein possesses protein binding domains, a homeobox DNA binding domain and C-terminal transcriptional activation domains. The gene encoding MEIS1 is localized on human chromosome 2p15.
Immunogen
Peptide with sequence C-SEDITRSANLTDQ from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_002389.1.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Meis homeobox 1 (MEIS1) has a role in regular development as well as in cancer development. In mouse models, the protein has a role in renewal of stem cells. MEIS1 has been associated with acute myeloid leukemia.
