Application

N-heptadecanoyl-D-erythro-sphingosylphosphorylcholine (17:0 SM (d18:1/17:0)) has been used as an internal standard for the quantification of C17-sphingomyelin (SM) using mass spectrometry (MS). It may be used as an internal standard for the quantification of lipids in serum and skeletal muscles using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis. It may also be used as an internal standard for retention time calibration and for the extraction of lipids from blood samples using methanol and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE).
