Ponceau S (C.l. 27195) is an anionic, very hydrophilic disazo dye. It is also known as fast ponceau 2B.
Application
Ponceau S is widely used to stain proteins on gel electropherograms. It is a suitable stain for proteins adsorbed onto nitrocellulose membranes. It also has applications in botanical staining manuals as a stain for sieve plate elements.
Internal amino acid sequence analysis of proteins separated by one- or two-dimensional gel electrophoresis after in situ protease digestion on nitrocellulose.
