General description

Diallylmethylamine is a tertiary amine. It can be prepared from the reaction between aqueous methylamine and allylchloride in the presence of polyglycol-400 (phase transfer catalyst).

Application

Diallylmethylamine may be used in the synthesis of the following:
  • diallyldimethylammonium iodide
  • diallylethylmethylammonium bromide
  • diallylbenzylmethylammonium chloride
  • alkyl substituted diallylmethyl quaternary ammonium salt monomers
