L-homocysteine is used to diagnose homocystinuria.[1][2]
Application
L-homocysteine has been used as a supplement in cell culture media.[1]
Biochem/physiol Actions
Elevated homocysteine levels in plasma and tissue are associated with brain atrophy in Alzheimer′s disease as well as in healthy eldery subjects. Increased homocysteine is due to deficiencies in vitamin B status, specifically folate, B6 and B12 vitamins, which act as cofactors for enzymes involved in homocysteine metabolism.
Packaging
Bottomless glass bottle. Contents are inside inserted fused cone.
Vestigial structures are key indicators of evolutionary descent, but the mechanisms underlying their development are poorly understood. This study examines vestigial eye formation in the teleost Astyanax mexicanus, which consists of a sighted surface-dwelling morph and multiple populations of blind

Plasma total homocysteine (tHcy) has been positively associated with carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) in non-diabetic populations and in a few cross-sectional studies of diabetic patients. We investigated cross-sectional and prospective associations of a single measure of tHcy with common and
An elevated level of total plasma homocysteine (tHcy) has been associated with risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). The level of tHcy is affected by lifestyle, in addition to genetic predisposition. The methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) 677C>T polymorphism (rs1801133) is
