The presence of triplet state-oxygen adducts (a species previously proposed but never observed in a direct manner) is readily observed following laser flash photolysis studies of 2,2'-thenil. We report on the kinetic and spectroscopic parameters characteristic of this transient adduct.
In the title compound, C(12)H(10)N(2)S(2), which was synthesized by the reaction of 2,2'-thenil and ethyl-enediamine, the dihedral angle between the two thio-phene rings is 66.33 (9)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite chains along
