Application

LR White Resin is a very low viscosity resin, non-toxic and suitable for various applications in both light and Electron Microscopy. Major advantage of LR White sections is that they show minimal non-specific staining. Sections of polymerized resin are hydrophilic, thus immunocytochemistry reagents easily penetrate into the section. Its low viscosity makes LR White an ideal tool for infiltrating plant tissues as well as decalcified bone and teeth.
Benzoyl peroxide (B5907) is specifically formulated as an initiator for these resins.

Methylmethacrylate (MMA) embedding of undecalcified bone is routinely employed for histomorphometric analyses. Although MMA-embedded bone has been used for immunolabeling at the light microscopic level after removal of the resin, there are no such reports for electron microscopy. The aim

We have developed a procedure for visualizing GFP expression in fixed tissue after embedding in LR White. We find that GFP fluorescence survives fixation in 4% paraformaldehyde/0.1% glutaraldehyde and can be visualized directly by fluorescence microscopy in unstained, 1 microm

An improved new method for the simultaneous visualization of mRNA and encoded protein in LR White resin-embedded specimens is described.
