General description

Sodiumhydroxide solution with a concentration of 1 M is commonly used inhigh-performance capillary electrophoresis (HPCE). It is used as a pH modifierin the analysis of various samples.

Application

  • useful for transesterification of triglycerides, cholesteryl esters and phospholipids
  • provides convenient, fast, quantitative derivatization
  • converts free fatty acids into its sodium salts
