General description

Pentraxin-3 (PTX-3) is an acute-phase protein a soluble pattern recognition receptor, expressed in dendritic cells, monocytes, endothelial cells or neutrophils, at the time of inflammatory processes. It represents the long pentraxin subfamily. PTX-3 gene is located on human chromosome 3q25.32.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

Pentraxin-3 (PTX-3) participates in inflammatory and infectious processes. It also participates in antibacterial resistance. PTX3 helps to identify pathogen-linked molecular patterns expressed by microorganisms.
