Description générale

Leucine zipper-like transcription regulator 2 (LZTR2), also known as RGPR-p117, is a member of the SEC16 family and BTB-kelch superfamily. LZTR2 is required for secretory cargo traffic from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus and for normal transitional endoplasmic reticulum (tER) organization. Initially, it was described as a nuclear factor I (NFI) binding protein and transcriptional regulator of the regucalcin gene. LZTR2 is localized in the cytoplasm but is thought to translocate to the nucleus following a hormonal stimulation and mediated by protein kinase C signaling. Recent studies has suggested that there is a strong correlation between LZTR2 and obesity in the Japanese population similar to that seen with the TMEM18 gene and the GNPDA2, BDNF, FAIM2, and MC4R genes with obesity in Caucasian populations. This evidence implies that LZTR2 may play an important role in metabolism and obesity risk.

Immunogène
