General description

Tetrachloroethene is a colorless liquid having an ethereal odor, which can find applications as a chemical intermediate and dry cleaning agent. It can also undergo reductive dehalogenation in the presence of an anaerobic bacterium to yield cis-1,2-dichloroethene.
