Which substrate is used for the detection in the activity assay kit for mGPDH (GPD2)
1 answer-
The substrate used for detection in the MAK208 kit for measuring Glycerol 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GPDH) activity is dihydroxyacetone. This kit specifically measures cytosolic GPDH, identified by the EC number 1.1.1.8, and it quantifies the production of NADH. Cytosolic GPDH catalyzes the conversion of sn-glycerol 3-phosphate and NAD into NADH, glycerone phosphate, and H+. On the other hand, mitochondrial GPDH, identified by the EC number 1.1.5.3, catalyzes a different reaction involving sn-glycerol 3-phosphate and quinone into glycerone phosphate and quinol.
