Galactopyranoside is a glycoside of galactopyranose, a derivative of galactose. Fluorescein-β-D-galactopyranoside is a highly sensitive substrate for galactosidases therefore it can be used for analyzing the level of transfection of adenoviral vectors encoding Escherichia coli β-galactosidase.
