Application

Dexamethasone-Water Soluble has been used as a component of
  • Dulbecco′s modified Eagle medium based osteogenic and adipogenic medium for human mesenchymal stem cell culture[1]
  • erythroid expansion media for the growth of liver, bone marrow and spleen tissues[2]
  • medium 199 (M199) for hepatocyte culture[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Dexamethasone is an anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid[4] and a synthetic corticosteroid used for treating corneal inflammation. It inhibits the IL-1β-dependent angiogenesis.[5] Dexamethasone elicits a range of effects on cell survival, cell signaling and gene expression.[6] It favors apoptosis in chondrocytes and impairs development of bone.[7] Dexamethasone is a potential therapeutic agent as it induces apoptosis in multiple myeloma (MM) cells.[8] It elicits its functionality by lowering glucocorticoid receptor (GR) α levels and inhibits colon tumor progression.[9]

Questions

1–10 of 18 Questions
  1. What is the molecular mass of Dexamethasone-Water Soluble (D2915)?

    1 answer
    1. This product is a multi-component item comprised of dexamethasone and (2-Hydroxypropyl)-?-cyclodextrin. The molecular weight of Dexamethasone is 392.5 g/mol. The molecular weight of the (2-Hydroxypropyl)-?-cyclodextrin is variable, but has an average molecular weight of 1,396 g/mol. There is an excess of cyclodextrin in the mixture to greatly enhance the solubility of the dexamethasone. The product is sold on the basis of the Dexamethasone content. The final product will have 55 - 75 mg of Dexamethasone per gram solid. For example, a 100mg package reporting a 75mg/gram Dexamethasone concentration would be a package of 1.81 grams. This value is reported in the Certiicate of Analysis. Please see the link below to review a sample of a specific Certificate:
