General description

Recombinant, human interleukin-8 expressed in E. coli. A potent proinflammatory cytokine produced by monocytes, fibroblasts, and keratinocytes in response to stimulation by LPS, IL-1, or TNF-α, and by T lymphocytes in response to PHA stimulation. Induces adhesion of neutrophils to endothelial cells. A physiological initiator of chemotactic migration of leukocytes. May be involved in chronic inflammation. IL-8 acts as an angiogenic factor in human gastric carcinoma.
Recombinant, human interleukin-8 expressed in E. coli. Induces adhesion of neutrophils to endothelial cells. May be involved in chronic inflammation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

ED₅₀ = 150-300 ng/ml as measured by induction of myeloperoxidase release from human neutrophils
