General description

Teriparatide, also called rhPTH (1-34), is a single-chain peptide containing 34 amino acids identical to the 34 N-terminal amino acids of the human parathyroid hormone. Teriparatide is produced by a method based on recombinant DNA (rDNA) technology. The host cell-derived protein content is below the limit approved by the competent authority. In addition, the host cell-derived and vector-derived DNA are below the limit approved by the competent authority.
Teriparatide USP reference standard is provided as delivered and specified by the issuing Pharmacopoeia. All information provided in support of this product, including MSDS and any product information leaflets, have been developed and issued under the Authority of the issuing Pharmacopoeia. For further information and support please go to the website of the issuing Pharmacopoeia.

Application

Teriparatide USP reference standard is intended to be used in specified quality tests and assays. It is also used in the preparation of standards solutions for the peptide mapping and bioidentity procedures during the identification and assay of teriparatide and teriparatide injection using liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to UV detector at 214 nm as described in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) monographs. Based directly on official monographs published in the USP-NF, these highly characterized physical specimens are used in testing by pharmaceutical and related industries to help ensure the identity, strength, quality and purity of peptide-based medicines.
Further information is available in the monograph, Teriparatide, USPNF 2021 ISSUE 3 of the USP (United States Pharmacopeia).
