General description

Diphenyl ditelluride (PhTe)2 is a versatile reagent used in the organic synthesis. Neurotoxicity by (PhTe)2 depends on the modulation of signaling pathways initiated at the plasma membrane. Comparative toxicological effects of diphenyl diselenide and (PhTe)2 in mice after in vivo administration has been reported. Teratogenic effects of (PhTe)2 on chicken embryo development has been investigated. The oxidative addition of (PhTe)2 to [Pd(PPh3)4] in dichloromethane is reported to yield [Pd6Cl2Te4(TePh)2(PPh3)6]·1/2CH2Cl2.

Application

Diphenyl ditelluride may be used in the assay of organolithium and Grignard reagents.

The fact that oxaliplatin (OXL), a platinum-based chemotherapeutic drug, causes severe neuropathy greatly limits its clinical use. This study investigated the effects of lycopene, a potent antioxidant, on OXL-induced central and peripheral neuropathy. In this study, 30 min after oral administration

Evidence from our group supports that diphenyl ditelluride (PhTe)2 neurotoxicity depends on modulation of signaling pathways initiated at the plasma membrane. The (PhTe)2-evoked signal is transduced downstream of voltage-dependent Ca(2+) channels (VDCC), N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDA), or metabotropic glutamate receptors activation

Elemental compositions are commonly determined from the exact m/z of the monoisotopic peak, which is often the lightest isotope. However, the lightest isotope peak is often weak or absent and the monoisotopic peak can be difficult to identify for organometallics

Organoselenium compounds have been pointed out as therapeutic agents. In contrast, the potential therapeutic aspects of tellurides have not yet been demonstrated. The present study evaluated the comparative toxicological effects of diphenyl diselenide (PhSe)2 and diphenyl ditelluride (PhTe)2 in mice
