General description

Cholinergic receptor muscarinic 3 (CHRM3) gene is located on the human chromosome at 1q43 and encodes for the M3 subtype of muscarinic acetylcholine (ACh) receptors. Muscarinic receptor 3 (M3R) is one of the five muscarinic receptors (M1R-M5R). It is a member of the class A family of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). M3R is localized to the salivary glands, lachrymal glands, trachea and bronchi.

Specificity

Rabbit polyclonal anti-Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor (M3) antibody recognizes rat, human, mouse Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor (M3).

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 461-479 of the third intracellular loop of rat muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M3. This sequence is identical in human, mouse, pig, and bovine.

Application

Anti-Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor (M3) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunohistochemistry and western blotting.
Rabbit polyclonal anti-Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptor (M3) antibody is used to tag muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (M3) for detection and quantitation by immunocytochemical and immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the presence and roles of muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (M3) in information processing and plastic changes in CNS function.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Muscarinic receptor 3 (M3R) is involved in the contraction of the detrusor muscle. It is also involved in the secretion of saliva and bladder contraction. It participates in several pathological processes of lung disease, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mutations in the CHRM3 gene is associated with congenital bladder malformations related to prune-belly-like syndrome (PBS).

Physical form

Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 1% bovine serum albumin and 0.05% sodium azide.
