General description

3-(4-heptyl)phenyl 3-hydroxypropyl dimethyl ammonio propane sulfonate (C7BzO) is a zwitterionic detergent comprising of a zwitterionic, hydrophilic head connected to the hydrophobic tail through a linker region. The prelinker region enhances detergent solubility. C7BzO is effective in sample preparation from plant membranes.

Application

C7BzO has been used as a component of extraction solution for protein isolation from mycelia and recombinant mammalian prion proteins.

Other Notes

Zwitterionic detergent; especially well-suited to protein extraction for proteomics applications.
