Application
Used in antibiotic assay work (USP, FDA, Ph Eur); used as seed agar, e.g. with S. aureus for the assay of kanamycin or as base agar, e.g. for assaying chloramphenicol.
Preparation Note
Suspend 30.5 g in 1 litre of distilled water and bring to the boil to dissolve completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
