General description
Phosphinic acid is a reagent containing P-H bond.[1] Phosphinic acids (phosphinates) are the derivatives of phosphinic acid H2P(O)(OH). Biochemical, biological, and medical applications of phosphinic acid compounds have been evaluated.[2] Natural products containing carbon-phosphorus bonds (phosphonic and phosphinic acids) have wide applications in medicine and agriculture.[3] Phosphinic acids have been synthesized via Michael addition of phosphonous acids as well as esters to activated conjugated systems.[4] Phosphinic acid (Hypophosphorous acid) is an effective radical reducing agent for organic halides, thionoesters and isocyanides.[1]
