General description
Interferons are cytokines secreted by mammalian cells. They are broadly divided into type I– interferon alpha (IFN-α) and interferon beta (IFN-β), type II – interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and type III – interferon lambda (IFN-λ) based on their structure, function, and receptor specificity. Recombinant αA interferon is a hydrophobic protein belonging to the IFN-α family of proteins.[1]
