Biochem/physiol Actions

Tryptophan (Trp) ist eine der funktionellen Aminosäuren, die mit Wachstum, Reproduktion, Erhaltung und Immunität im Zusammenhang stehen. Eine erhöhte Trp-Verfügbarkeit ist für die Regulierung von Stimmung, Kognition und Verhalten notwendig. Es wurde die Hypothese aufgestellt, dass L-Trp nützlich sein könnte, um bei gesunden Erwachsenen entgegen dem normalen zirkadianen Rhythmus Schlaf zu induzieren. Die Trp-Aufnahme durch das Gehirn hängt vom Plasmaverhältnis von Trp zu allen anderen LNAAs (large neutral amino acids; großen neutralen Aminosäuren) ab. Je höher das Trp-zu-LNAA-Verhältnis ist, umso größer ist die Trp-Aufnahme.
